WA Health Leaders Honored at 2025 Excellence Awards

A Geraldton emergency nurse practitioner who has dedicated decades to caring for sick people has taken a top honour in the 2025 WA Health Excellence Awards.

The event celebrated the people and programs leading the way in improving health outcomes and delivering exceptional care to Western Australians.

WA Country Health Service emergency nurse practitioner Deanne Brooks, who is based at Geraldton Health Campus, received the Minister for Health's Award, acknowledging her decades of dedication to emergency care.

Deanne's leadership and mentoring have inspired generations of regional clinicians and strengthened the delivery of urgent care across country WA.

The Director General's Award was presented to South Metropolitan Health Service's Geriatricians for Older Adults in the Emergency Departmentproject.

This innovative model of care is improving outcomes for older patients through specialist-led multidisciplinary collaboration, enhancing safety, and quality of care.

Nurse practitioner Sue Morey from North Metropolitan Health Service was named the 7NEWS Health Hero, a community-nominated award recognising her extraordinary compassion and commitment to her patients.

Her professionalism and warmth make her a trusted practitioner for those she cares for, demonstrating patient-centred care at its best.
