- World Expo 2025 Osaka has welcomed more than two million visitors since its launch in mid-April
Western Australia's health and medical life sciences innovation and expertise will be on display during Health and MedTech Week at World Expo 2025 Osaka (Expo) later this month.
From 24 to 27 June, the WA Government will deliver a program of activities in the Australia Pavilion to attract investment and highlight the innovatory work being done in health and medical life sciences.
A delegation of leading WA businesses and government representatives will feature in a week-long showcase that will include three WA Innovator Roundtable discussions and a seminar addressing international healthcare challenges.
Participating organisations include:
- Lixa - developing pharmaceutical solutions to anti-microbial resistance;
- Black Swan Biotech - advancing RNA treatments for motor neurone disease;
- Personalised Medicine Centre, a collaboration between Murdoch University and the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science; and
- Cell and Tissue Therapies WA at Royal Perth Hospital.
The delegation reflects WA's growing strengths in developing leading-edge therapeutics, advanced biomanufacturing, personalised medicine and rare disease treatments, all of which are areas of increasing international demand and investment interest.
As a Gold Partner of the Australian Pavilion at Expo, WA's health and medtech program aligns with the Commonwealth Government's activations taking place throughout the week.
The Australia Pavilion attracts on average more than 12,000 visitors each day, offering WA a prominent global platform to engage with potential investors, industry leaders and research partners in the health and medical life science sector.
Expo 2025 Osaka, which opened on 13 April and will run until 13 October 2025, has already drawn more than two million attendees. Australia's theme 'Chasing the Sun' provides an opportunity to promote Western Australia - the sunniest state in Australia - as a key investment and trade partner in an optimal business time zone.
Health and medical life sciences is just one of WA's priority sectors that will be promoted and activated across the six-month Expo program, which is being led by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
