Warwick fire investigation

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a bushfire that started in Warwick Open Space on Lloyd Drive, Warwick on Sunday 23 January 2022.

Around 4:15pm, Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to bushland near the intersection of Lloyd Street and Beach Road. The fire burnt a significant amount of bushland and posed a serious risk to surrounding homes, school and nearby businesses.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and Strike Force Vulcan officer wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity in the area of the fire between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
