Wellington residents will get their first look at updated flood mapping data with the Wellington Flood Study now available for residents to view on public exhibition.
The study uses the latest technology and additional rainfall and river gauge data to map how the Macquarie and Bell Rivers behave during a range of flood events.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the exhibition period is the community's chance to shape how Wellington plans for future flooding events.
"Early on in the process Council officers consulted with many Wellington residents about their experiences during flooding events, and this is a continuation of that conversation.
"Thanks to new information and new software the consultants have been able to work out what different flood events may look like and how that will affect properties in the event of a flood Wellington.
"We are keen to hear from residents with their thoughts and ideas about the updated plan."
Engagement sessions will be held in Wellington with the consultants and Council officers available to answer questions from residents.
Community Information Sessions will be held on Tuesday 22 September from 6pm to 8pm and on Wednesday 23 September from 12pm to 2pm, at the Wellington Civic Centre.
Council officers will also be on hand at the Wellington Rotary Markets on Saturday 26 September, to provide answers about the flood modelling results, flood risks and draft recommendations associated with the flood study.

The Wellington Flood Study was developed with WRM Water and Environment and supported by $78,000 in funding through the NSW Floodplain Management Grants Scheme.
The Wellington Flood Study has been undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual 2023.
