Western Australia coronovirus update as at 4 February 2021

The Department of Health has reported zero cases of community transmission of COVID-19 overnight. There are two new confirmed cases related to overseas travel.

The positive cases – a man in his 60s and a child –travelled to Perth from overseas and are in hotel quarantine. The State's total is now 906.

Contact tracing around case #903 has identified 489 close and casual contacts. Most have now returned negative results and WA Health is following up with those contacts who are still waiting on test results.

Note: A close contact is someone who has had face-to-face contact of any duration with a confirmed case OR someone who has shared an enclosed space for more than an hour with a confirmed case during their infectious period.

Police investigation and scrutiny of CCTV footage has uncovered two further locations visited by case #903 on the 25th of January.

  • Spudshed Morley – 25/01/2021 between 10pm and 11pm
  • Coles Express North Perth – 25/01/2021 between 9pm and 10pm.

These locations are being added as a precaution only. It is unlikely case #903 was infectious on this date. The updated location list (external site) is available on the Healthy WA website.

Since Sunday, 35,000 people have been tested at COVID clinics across the State. Yesterday 7,767 people were tested, including around 500 at the Maylands pop up clinic.

Anyone in the community who is symptomatic should immediately get a COVID-19 test. This applies to those who recently received negative test results – if symptoms develop, get retested.

WA Health COVID clinics will open from 7am - 10pm today and tomorrow. This includes clinics at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Joondalup Hospital.

The Maylands pop up clinic at The Rise will also operate between 7am and 10pm today and tomorrow. Testing is free and details of all clinics (external site) are available on the Healthy WA website

WA Health is monitoring 10 active cases of COVID-19 – all in hotel quarantine.

To date 887 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

There have been 769,625 COVID-19 tests results returned throughout the State. Of those, 117,251 were from regional WA.

To date, 18 cases of variant strains have been detected (14 B.1.1.7 strain and 4 B.1.351 strain). Four of these cases remain active and are in hotel quarantine.
