Funding for Women's Grants for a Stronger Future has been increased from $85,000 to $335,000, providing more opportunities to support initiatives that advance gender equality to build a better, fairer and more equitable WA community.

Successful applications will align with the priority areas of Stronger Together: WA's Plan for Gender Equality, which are: health and well-being, safety and justice, women's economic independence and women in leadership.

Projects that support Aboriginal women's leadership and older women are encouraged, as are initiatives that align with the implementation of the recommendations of the Respect@Work: National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces.

Grants of up to $10,000 for one-off initiatives are available through the Department of Communities website www.communities.wa.gov.au/womensgrants.

In addition, the following allocations are available through a competitive grants process advertised on the Tenders WA website:

    • $25,000 to $100,000 for programs that support the implementation of the recommendations of the Respect@Work: National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces.

Not-for-profit and community sector organisations, community groups and local governments are eligible to apply.

Applications for grants open today and close on Wednesday, 23 November, 2023.

As stated by Women's Interests Minister Simone McGurk:

"The McGowan Government is committed to supporting women and girls to reach their potential in all aspects of life.

"Women and girls in WA deserve to live and work safely in a community where diversity is embraced, and where access to rights, resources and opportunities isn't determined by gender.

"This year we are significantly expanding and enhancing the Women's Grants for a Stronger Future Program so we can support even more initiatives that empower women.

"These projects will drive better outcomes for women and girls wherever they might experience barriers - at school, in the workplace, in retirement and in their homes and communities.

"The recommendations of the Respect@Work Report show there is a great deal of work to be done to address issues of inequity in the workplace, and we are particularly interested in projects that address issues in this space."
