Read and Publish agreements across 45 countries deliver access to the Company's leading research content while enabling over 95,000 articles to be published open access
HOBOKEN, N.J. - February 9, 2026 - Wiley (NYSE: WLY), a global leader in authoritative content and research intelligence for the advancement of scientific discovery, innovation, and learning, today announced it has signed more than 125 transformational agreements with library consortia and institutions worldwide, leading the industry by deepening the global exchange of new knowledge and the impact of peer-reviewed research.
With the acceleration of read-and-publish agreements in recent years, Wiley has systematically expanded its research infrastructure to cover more than 3,500 institutions across 45 countries, including by investing in technology and training to improve the author experience, safeguard research integrity, and enhance content discoverability. These recurring-revenue agreements have supported the publication of more than 95,000 open access articles, while enabling scholars worldwide to access and build on Wiley's research content.
Wiley's largest multi-year read and publish agreements span the globe, including with national or regional library consortia such as DEAL in Germany, CAPES in Brazil, TUBITAK in Türkiye, JISC in the UK, CAUL in Australia and New Zealand, CDL and SCELC in the US, and OASE in Japan, collectively representing more than 1,500 institutions.
This model, which provides read access to vast research content while removing financial barriers for individual researchers to publish their work, has increasingly become the norm for major academic libraries globally. Transformational agreements allow affiliated researchers at participating institutions to publish open access in Wiley's journal portfolio, with funding often centrally managed by the institution.
"Seven years after our first agreement, we're seeing the transformative impact these models can have-not just in making more research available, but in fundamentally changing how knowledge flows across borders and disciplines, all while creating healthy, sustainable models for both institutions and publishers," said Kathryn Sharples, Group Vice President, Publishing Strategy & Policy at Wiley. "We continue to work with institutions, consortia, funders, and societies to create sustainable pathways that advance the shared goal of making research more widely accessible and impactful while ensuring long-term value for all partners in the scholarly ecosystem."
Wiley provides access to nearly 2,000 industry-leading journals to institutions through multi-year subscriptions and transformational agreements. Wiley is also a leader in open access publishing, which ensures that research findings are immediately available to the global scientific community and the general public, accelerating discovery and enabling research to drive real-world impact. This is particularly crucial for addressing global challenges in healthcare, climate science, technology, and other fields where timely access to research can save lives and generate solutions.
Wiley has complemented transformational agreements with additional initiatives to make research publishing even more accessible to scholars, including through its long-standing partnership with Research4Life and an Open Access Pricing Power Parity Pilot in Latin America.
