Winter events are warming up City of Light

From immersive art installations to international sports and local beers, the city is the place to be this winter with a calendar full of exciting and unique events to delight locals and visitors.

From 3 to 12 June, the City is proudly sponsoring WA Beer Week – ten days celebrating the best craft beers in the state. In its 19th year, punters will be spoilt for choice with nine events across the city, breweries and venues will open their doors for beer aficionados and novices alike to enjoy a local pint.

Sponsored by the City of Perth, Strange Festival 2022 will take over the city from 17 June to 26 June. This brand-new art event will celebrate 35 weird and wonderful Aussie artists in some of the city's most unique and unused spaces.

The free art installations will encourage people to wander throughout the city's laneways, malls and shopping precincts to explore different side of the city we all know and love.

The City of Perth is also excited to welcome Van Gogh Alive, which has dazzled more than seven million visitors across 65 cities worldwide. Currently on at the Supreme Court Gardens, Van Gogh's masterpieces have come alive and give visitors the sensation of walking right into his paintings.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said major events were important for the City's economy to attract visitors local and aboard as Perth continues to shine as WA's event capital.

"The City of Light is delighted to support a range of events which will keep the city buzzing throughout the winter season. Events are an important part of our COVID recovery - they breathe life into our city, boost our economy and bring communities together.

This winter, Perth is also playing host to a range of exciting sporting events including the Wallabies v England rugby union match on 2 July, and the State of Origin game on 26 June. Queensland and New South Wales supporters are encouraged to come together at Forest Place for a pregame fan event on 25 June.

"After the success of the Footy Place during the AFL Grand final last year, we're excited to activate Forrest Place again to celebrate the State of Origin back once again in our beautiful city," he said.

The City of Perth's 2022/23 Grants and Sponsorship program offers millions in support for unique initiatives that will revitalise the City of Light and it's diverse communities.
