Winton to welcome energised Regional Community Forum

JOINT STATEMENT

Generating opportunities out of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan will be on the agenda in Winton tomorrow, as members gather for a fourth and final Western Queensland Regional Community Forum for 2022.

The latest Western Queensland Regional Community Forum will feature presentations on the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, as well as local skills and training pathways.

Forum members will also visit the Winton Neighbourhood Centre.

Minister for Communities and Housing, Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch and Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey will attend tomorrow's Forum in Winton.

Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd will chair the Forum.

Ms Boyd said that throughout the year, Forum members had worked hard to confirm priorities in the region's action plan and deliver for vulnerable members of their community.

"Forum members in Western Queensland can be proud of how they have represented and demonstrated care for their community in 2022," Ms Boyd said.

"This year, Forum members were active contributors to Outback Futures Head Yakka report for better mental health and wellbeing in regional communities and supported activities to improve local access to disability support services and accommodation."

Ms Boyd said with the release of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, Forum members also have an opportunity to learn more about renewable energy development across the region.

"From wind and solar, to new economy minerals – the region is rich with natural resources, and together we can create sustainable jobs, and diversify industry in Western Queensland."

The Western Queensland Regional Community Forum is one of seven to be held in regional centres across Queensland tomorrow, with other Forums set for Wide Bay Burnett Fraser Coast, Far North Queensland, Central Queensland, North-North West Queensland, Darling Downs South West and the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region.

The Regional Community Forums are part of the Queensland Government's Advancing Queensland's Regions strategy, supported by the Office for Rural and Regional Queensland.
