Woman extradited from Victoria

Detectives from WA Police Force's Organised Crime Squad have successfully applied to the Melbourne Magistrates Court to have a 34-year-old woman extradited from Victoria to Western Australia to face serious drug related charges.

The woman was arrested by Victoria Police in Port Melbourne on Monday 29 August 2022 on a WA arrest warrant. She appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court the same day, where she was refused bail and held to appear in an extradition hearing in the same court yesterday, Tuesday 30 August 2022. The extradition was approved by the court and the woman was subsequently escorted to Western Australia, arriving Wednesday 31 August 2022.

It is alleged between August and November 2021 the woman coordinated the transportation and sale of methylamphetamine to Western Australia on three occasions, twice from New South Wales (about 2kg and about 500g) and once from Victoria (about 500g). It will be further alleged the woman coordinated the drug transactions remotely from Victoria, using associates to complete the actual transactions.

It will also be alleged the woman attempted to purchase 5kg of methylamphetamine for $1 million cash – cash seized by police, again directing associates to act on her behalf in the delivery of cash and the receiving of the drugs.

During the course of the investigations into the alleged incidents a total of about 3kg of Methylamphetamine and just over $1 million cash was seized. In addition, as a result of further search warrants executed at addresses linked to associates of the woman, about $2 million more in cash was seized (total cash seized is over $3 million).

The 34-year-old woman from Port Melbourne is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Thursday 1 September 2022, charged with:

- 3 x Sold or supplied, or offered to sell or supply, a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine;

- Attempt to Possess Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply; and

- Laundering Property/Money from Proceeds of Major Offence
