Woman in critical condition after being struck by car in Melbourne

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck by a car in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.

The female pedestrian was crossing Flinders Street, near the intersection of Highlander Lane, when she was hit by a vehicle shortly before 10am.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Caulfield man, at the scene.

He remains in custody, assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Detectives are investigating to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
