Woman in hospital after hit and run - South Grafton

A woman remains in hospital after allegedly being hit by a car which failed to stop in the state's north overnight.

Police have been told about 11.20pm (Friday 28 October 2022), a 45-year-old woman was riding a non-motorised scooter north on Armidale Road, South Grafton, when a Toyota Hilux – also travelling north – hit the woman and knocked her to the ground.

The ute failed to stop and render assistance before continuing north on Armidale Road.

A number of people at a nearby home came and rendered first aid prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for further treatment.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with either CCTV or dashcam footage along Armidale Road near the intersection of Tyson Street between 11pm and 11.30pm to contact Grafton Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
