Some of the most talented and creative young artists in Melbourne's west will have their work showcased as the biennial Woods Street Youth Art Prize returns in September.

The exhibition, which takes place every two years at Laverton's Woods Street Arts Space, showcases the creativity, diversity and talent of emerging young artists.

The event gives an important platform for young people to share their artistic voices, connect with audiences and gain valuable exhibition experience.

More than 50 finalists have been nominated for this year's exhibition across a range of mediums, with nearly $3000 in prizemoney available across six different categories.

Winners will be announced at the exhibition launch on Friday 4 September, and works will be exhibited from 5 to 19 September for the community to admire and enjoy.

On the final day of the exhibition, three young artists will share insights into their work, influences and creative processes in a conversation facilitated by D'Arcy Rouillard.

The afternoon will also feature the final award presentations, including the People's Choice Award and more, providing one last opportunity to celebrate the artists and revisit their work.
