Wyndham City has welcomed reports of a new major infrastructure project that would link Geelong, Melbourne's West and the City by a fast-rail link.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Josh Gilligan, said the proposed fast rail connection to the Melbourne Metro 2 underground railway would be transformative for this fast-growing region.
"This is an incredible initiative that will boost employment and liveability in Melbourne's West and Geelong and leverage significant opportunities that we have as a city and region," Cr Gilligan said.
"We're eagerly awaiting more details and looking forward to working hand in hand with the Victorian Government to help make this a reality."
