Anthony Fauci, MD, the nation’s topic infectious diseases expert and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, discusses top symptoms of COVID-19, which may help individuals distinguish from signs of the pandemic or rather flu or something else. Fauci’s discussion of COVID-19 is reported by Yahoo Style and includes an explanation of symptoms such as the loss of smell and taste. The research of Ahmad Sedaghat, MD, PhD, associate professor in the UC Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and UC Health physician, is cited by Yahoo Style.

At least 61 percent of the patients reported reduced or lost sense of smell. The mean onset for reduction or loss in sense of smell was 3.4 days.
