Yarra CIU investigation Abbotsford hit-run

Detectives from Yarra Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a hit-run collision in Abbotsford this morning.

Investigators have been told a 25-year-old Collingwood man was crossing Hoddle Street about 12.40am.

He stepped out into the path of a vehicle that was travelling south bound on Hoddle Street near the intersection of Johnson Street and was struck by the vehicle.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, believed to be a light-coloured sedan, failed to stop and continued driving south on Hoddle Street.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision who witnessed the incident or with dashcam footage, to contact them.

It is believed the vehicle would have sustained damage to the front left area of the vehicle.
