Young artists' turn to revitalise Kempsey's laneways

Kempsey Shire Council

Four young artists began work on a youth mural at Savages Lane yesterday, which will be finished in time for the Macleay Youth Laneway Festival on Saturday 22 April as part of NSW Youth Week.

The collaboration between Kempsey Shire Council and Community Housing Limited involves youth led artworks in Savages Lane, complementing two other youth murals led by different artists.

Funded by a NSW Government grant, this is another stage of the Streets as Shared Spaces project that has seen 14 murals revitalise Elrington's and Savages Lanes in the Kempsey CBD.

Visitors to the Youth Laneway Festival can expect a fun-filled afternoon at the Youth Laneway Festival with live music, roving entertainment, amusement activities, live street art, food trucks, market stalls, virtual reality station and more.

The Youth Laneway Festival will unveil the final touches to the colourful laneway murals and instil a sense of pride in the community's youth.

The Macleay Youth Laneway Festival is a free event that will take place from 2pm - 6pm on Saturday 22nd April.
