As Council approaches its half way mark in its election cycle, we have taken the opportunity to review our goals, progress and critical deliverables.

Other things have also necessitated review. The Carisbrook and Dunolly communities have provided important feedback into our collective emergency response after recent flooding and those valuable observations and suggestions will be fed through into a statewide review. This enables a continued improvement of these key processes and to ensure our emergency services teams who contribute to much, receive the support and resources they need.

Council received and noted its 2021-2022 Annual Report at the October meeting. The report which is available on our website is packed with information and reviews what Council and its staff have delivered in projects and services, and our progress with key objectives.

As we head towards the State election Council will review the announcements and commitments made by the key parties and the result of our advocacy. We thank all candidates who took time to meet with us and consider and respond to the needs of our community.

In March 2026 regional Victoria will host the Commonwealth Games with Ballarat and Bendigo major hosts. $2.6 billion has been allocated to prepare for the Games by the Victorian Government and a further $111 million for tourism and events. Games legacy will be a key consideration. Council has already submitted its proposals to benefit from this significant event and over coming months will review and focus its advocacy to maximise opportunity and success.
