The ongoing partnership between the Cook and Albanese Labor Governments is set to deliver a significant boost to affordable rentals and social housing within the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct in Perth's inner south.
Community housing provider Foundation Housing Ltd, in partnership with WA development company H-U (Human Urban), has started construction on 148 affordable rentals and 65 social homes as part of a 213-apartment project.
The Cook Government is supporting the project through a $46.2 million grant, as part of its record $6.3 billion housing spend since 2021.
The project has received nearly $165 million in funding from the Federal Government, including ongoing availability payments from the Housing Australia Future Fund.
The development will include office space and a mix of social and affordable housing and is located close to Fiona Stanley Hospital, Murdoch University, and public transport.
The new development is part of the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct - a landmark urban renewal project being delivered by DevelopmentWA - that will transform Murdoch into one of Australia's most vibrant hubs for health, research, education, and innovation.
