AFP Charges Man Over Trespass At Perth Airport

A Perth man appeared in Perth Magistrates Court today (30 April, 2025) charged for trespassing on Commonwealth land, after he was found on the tarmac at Perth Airport.

The man, 33, pleaded guilty to the offence and the matter was adjourned to 25 May, 2025, for sentencing.

The AFP charged the man last night (29 April, 2025) after he was intercepted by airline workers on the tarmac about 9.30pm.

The man had been in bushland surrounding the airport, before managing to enter the airport grounds and reach the tarmac. AFP officers attended and arrested the man.

He was charged with one count of trespassing on Commonwealth Land, contrary to section 89(1) of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth).

The maximum penalty for the offence is a $3130 fine.

AFP Detective Acting Inspector Aden Jama said it was dangerous for unauthorised people to be on the tarmac around aircraft and such incidents also put workers at risk.

"If you trespass on Commonwealth land or enter an airside security zone without authorisation, you will face prosecution," Det a/Insp Jama said.

The AFP provides aviation security at nine major airports in Australia.
