Canadian communities flourish when they have safe, welcoming public spaces where people can come together to connect, engage, and participate in recreational programs and activities. By investing in our infrastructure, we not only stimulate economies and create jobs - we build communities that attract people and businesses and make them want to stay.

Today, Darren Fisher, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Dartmouth - Cole Harbour, announced an investment of $37,650 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) to the Alderney Landing Facility Association. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

This support helped the association build two single-room, ecofriendly buildings at Alderney Landing, creating adaptable facilities used for community art programming, farmers market expansions, theatre rehearsal space, retail space for special events, and more. Known as "community solar extensions," the wheelchair accessible structures are fully off-grid featuring solar panels which power lights, heaters and provide charging capacity.
