Apple Reinstates MetaTrader MT4 & MT5 on App Store

After almost six months of being delisted, Apple has reinstated the MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 trading apps, also known as MT4 and MT5, on its App Store.

The removal of the apps was widely linked to Western sanctions on Russia in September 2022 as it was thought to be due to the Russian software company's registration offshore in Limassol, Cyprus. Neither Apple nor MetaQuotes had publicly commented on the removal. Both apps have been available on Google Play.

In a statement, MetaQuotes Software, the developer of the MetaTrader apps, said that the apps had been reinstated after an extended process of communicating with Apple and providing them with further insights on the operational technicalities as requested.

The company also confirmed that all matters had been resolved and that the iOS applications were fully compliant with Apple's requirements.

"We are happy that the situation has been resolved and we managed to find an understanding with Apple," said Renat Fatkhullin, CEO of MetaQuotes.

"Our company respects the requirements of any marketplace and always strives to meet them. We feel responsible to our users and therefore we did our best to provide clarifications on the issues raised from Apple in a timely manner. I also want to thank the traders, brokers, and media, who actively showed their support."

The MT4 and MT5 trading apps are popular among traders worldwide, and according to a study conducted in September 2019, MetaTrader 4 was still the most popular trading platform globally. With the reinstatement of the apps on the App Store, traders can once again access them on their iOS devices.

It remains unclear whether Apple's decision to reinstate the apps is related to any changes in the Western sanctions on Russia. However, the development is likely to be welcomed by traders who rely on the MetaTrader apps for their trading activities.
