The Albanese Government is pleased to announce the appointment of the Hon Sussan Ley and Ms Merryn York to the Snowy Hydro Limited Board.
Snowy Hydro is part of our national story. Today, it's a fully Australian owned company operating the original Snowy Scheme as well as gigawatts of electricity generation across Australia.
Snowy 2.0 project will provide the large-scale storage needed to support cheaper, cleaner and more reliable power as ageing coal-fired generators retire.
Ms Ley brings extensive experience in government, environmental regulation, regional Australia and major infrastructure projects.
As a former Minister for the Environment and Water, Ms Ley is familiar with Snowy 2.0's importance and complexity and as Member for Farrer for over 24 years, she developed a detailed understanding of the importance Snowy scheme to the people of southwest NSW.
Ms York is one of Australia's most experienced energy leaders. She has served as Chief Executive of Powerlink Queensland and, most recently, as Executive General Manager System Design at the Australian Energy Market Operator. She will bring direct experience of operating and investing in large-scale infrastructure.
