A new specialist technologies building will feature nine teaching spaces including engineering, mechatronics, STEM, media, digital design and information technologies.

The project will also include a new student services area and refurbishment of an existing foods technologies studio into a Certificate II kitchen.

These upgrades will add to the outstanding facilities available to students, including modern science facilities, a performing arts centre and gymnasium, and will help meet continued growth in student numbers.

Karratha Senior High School is the only public secondary school in town and provides a high-quality education for more than 1,200 students.

This investment is part of the McGowan Government's $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and will support 79 new local jobs.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"I am pleased to announce more progress in our multimillion dollar investment in Karratha Senior High School, which will provide students with excellent facilities and learning opportunities.

"The McGowan Government is committed to ensuring all public schools around the state benefit from upgrades and refurbishments, and we're delivering this through our Pilbara Recovery Plan and unprecedented schools' maintenance blitz."

As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

"I am proud that the McGowan Government is expanding Karratha Senior High School to enhance local education opportunities for students and our excellent local teachers.

"As the Pilbara continues to grow, expanding and upgrading local schools is vital for the education of local students and for creating local jobs."
