Welcome to the November edition of the ASQA Update
In this issue, we reflect on the achievements of the past year with the publication of ASQA's Annual Report 2021-22. The report is a record of our activities and performance in the previous financial year, and is a collective statement about who we are as the national regulator, what we do, what stakeholders can expect of us, areas where we have improved, and where we need to continue to focus our efforts. Our Annual Report 2021-22 reflects our commitment to enhancing the transparency and accountability of our regulatory program and operations, and building trust and confidence in our regulatory settings.
In 2021-22, ASQA continued to perform a pivotal role ensuring the quality and integrity of VET in the context of broader efforts to enable Australia's recovery from the pandemic and support the ambitious economic goals of government.
In particular, we embedded improvements to our regulatory practice introduced the previous year, focusing particularly on broadening the range of regulatory tools we use across our suite of education, engagement, compliance monitoring and enforcement activities - and supporting providers' to self-assure quality and compliance.
There was also significant progress made in terms of an emerging provider culture for self-assurance and continuous improvement within the sector, supported by ASQA's efforts to actively engage with providers in building an understanding of risk, and to share our regulatory insights to support providers to critically review their own performance. This was enabled by efforts to further refine our risk-based and data-driven approach to identifying regulatory risks, and more clearly signalling to the sector our risk priorities and where providers can expect to see targeted investment and regulatory effort.
We will continue our ongoing program of improvement this year with a focus on performance against our service standards and further strengthening our organisational capability and culture. I look forward to updating you on progress over the course of the year.
