Corangamite residents have another week to nominate community members and groups for the 2027 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Nominations opened on Monday 14 September and have been extended until 5 pm, Friday 30 October.

Mayor Kate Makin encouraged residents to take a few minutes and nominate inspirational people in their community for an award.

"There are so many ways that passionate contributors bring us together as a community," Cr Makin said.

"There are people who show great support for each other in times of need like the recent bushfires.

"Others chip away year after year, helping run sporting and service clubs, rec reserves, pools and halls.

"These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and groups in our community," Cr Makin said.

"They give us the chance to say, 'Thank you for a job well done. We value what you do for our community'."

The awards will be presented at the Shire's Australia Day event at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown from 10 am on Tuesday 26 January 2027.

Nominations forms and guidelines are available at corangamite.vic.gov.au/AustraliaDayAwards or from the Civic Centre.
