Bates must apologise for insulting doctors and nurses in regional Queensland

Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water The Honourable Glenn Butcher

Senior LNP frontbencher Ros Bates must immediately apologise for labelling Queensland Health staff in regional Queensland as duds, Minister for Regional Development Glenn Butcher said today.

"Queensland's doctors and nurses employed by our hospital and health services do tremendous work," the Minister said.

"For the LNP to label our frontline workers as duds is insulting to the staff – the doctors and nurses – who work day-in, day-out in our hospitals.

"Ros Bates, David Crisafulli and Jarrod Bleijie sat around Campbell Newman's cabinet table when the LNP sacked doctors and nurses.

"The insulting and insensitive remarks today show they have learnt nothing."

The Minister said Ms Bates should immediately apologise and withdraw her remarks from the Queensland Parliament.

"If she doesn't apologise, the Leader of the Opposition should sack her from his frontbench.

"Anything else is endorsing her comments about Queensland's hardworking health staff."
