On November 12, 2023, an inmate from Bath Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes. The individual's name has been anonymized to comply with a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victim(s).
At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a 7-year, 4-month and 14-day sentence, which commenced on May 25, 2021, for aggravated assault, sexual assault, indecent assault, kidnap, point firearm and utter threats.
The inmate's next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
