Today, 19 June 2026, Bond University (Australia) won the English edition of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition. The final round was held in the ICC's Courtroom I in The Hague (the Netherlands). The National Law School of India University and Singapore Management University won, respectively, the second and third places. The award for the Best Speaker went to Ayesha Khan of the National Law School of India University.
ICC Judge Gocha Lordkipanidze was the presiding judge for this competition. Members of the winning team are Elizabeth Greene, Laila Chequer de Souza, Kathleen Trafford, Lachlan Croser, and Fletcher O'Connell.
The teams competed on a fictitious case, presenting oral arguments in the roles of the Office of the Prosecutor, the Defence and State Counsel. The competition was web-streamed live on the Court's website and Facebook account.
This version of the ICC Moot Court Competition is organised by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies - Leiden University and the International Bar Association. In total, 94 universities from 48 countries participated in the preliminary stage of this year's competition.
ICC Moot Court Competitions are part of the ICC Academic programme, and are organized in English, Spanish, French and Chinese with a view to also support an Arabic version in the future. These initiatives play a critical role in gathering interest in the Court's work with academic communities as well as in enhancing promotion and respect for international criminal law.
