Brimbank acknowledges mask wearing requirement

A statement from Brimbank City Council Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou

Life continues to change as Melbourne, and Brimbank, works to understand what is required by us to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Coming into the third week – longer for some – of Stage 3 restrictions, we are now asked to comply with the direction to wear masks while outside.

For some in our community this will not be difficult or unusual, and for others it will take time to get used to.

Brimbank has been particularly vulnerable to the spread of coronavirus, with higher numbers of active and overall cases and this continues to be concerning for Council and for our community.

We are asking that everyone comply with the restrictions in place so we can play our part in slowing and preventing the spread of this virus.

Under Stage 3 restrictions, there are only four reasons to leave home; shopping for food and essential items; care and caregiving; exercise; work and study – if you can't do it from home.

As we all adjust to life to under COVID-19 and Stage 3 restrictions, Council is continuing to deliver essential services.

This includes household waste collection, immunisation, meals delivery, roads and cleansing, parks maintenance, health and building inspections, library delivery and online services - to name few.

Our services are also working hard behind the scenes to help our community stay connected as they stay home.

Please continue to look after yourself and each other and follow the advice of the health authorities, including reducing your movements and wearing masks when you leave the house. We want everyone to stay safe.
