Thousands of Western Australians have taken the opportunity to see inside Perth's first film studios.
Across two days, over 15,000 people were wowed by immersive experiences, entertainment, activities, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.
With special appearances from popular Australian screen productions, includingOutback Truckers and Whale Shark Jack, an interactive puppet whale by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, BMX Bandits-themed stunt shows by Freestyle Now, and music from Perth Symphony Orchestra.
Visitors were able to explore a Behind-the-Scenes Zone with local band Birdland, experience a working studio environment, and were treated to a program of speakers and industry panel talks including keynote guest Ben Elton.
In 2025-26 the Cook Labor Government supported screen productions that injected $64.2 million into the WA economy.
As stated by Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk:
"What a fantastic opportunity for Western Australians to experience the excitement of WA's screen industry and explore the magic of filmmaking.
"The Cook Labor Government is building a screen industry where talent thrives, careers are built, and young people can pursue their filmmaking dreams in Western Australia.
"I hope people leave the open day inspired by the extraordinary talent, innovation, and ambition that exists in our State."
As stated by Treasurer Rita Saffioti:
"Perth Film Studios are the most contemporary film studios in Australia and today's open day is an opportunity for Western Australians to see inside the world-class facility.
"This is a great addition to Malaga and our government is proud to be delivering record investment in the local screen industry.
"Projects like Perth Film Studios are about more than new facilities - they are about supporting local jobs, developing skills, and creating employment pathways for young Western Australians."
