An elected NSW Liberals and Nationals Government will repeal the Minns Labor Government's unworkable coffee cup mandate.
At a time of record business insolvencies, operators are struggling to absorb the combined pressures of rising interest rates, changes to credit card surcharges and spiralling costs.
These laws add another layer of regulation that is suffocating NSW businesses.
Speaking on 2GB this morning, Chris Minns made clear that Labor does not understand its own legislation or its impact on local cafés and takeaway businesses.
NSW Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane said the Liberals and Nationals worked with industry to put forward sensible amendments that would have offered certainty and protection for NSW small businesses, but Labor rejected them.
"The Minns Labor Government is saddling businesses with more costs, more red tape and more pressure, they could ease that pressure by amending their legislation and exempting small businesses but have refused to," Ms Sloane said.
NSW Nationals Leader and Shadow Minister for Small Business Gurmesh Singh said it had never been clearer that Labor does not understand what it takes to run a business.
"Small businesses have said it loud and clear that they are suffering under Labor, and industry has told us these laws are completely unworkable," Mr Singh said.
"Once again, the Minns Labor Government is failing to listen to common sense - it needs to concede that these laws must go."
Shadow Minister for the Environment Felicity Wilson said Labor has got it all wrong.
"We all want to reduce waste and protect the environment, but good environmental policy should work alongside our businesses, who are often leaders in sustainability," Ms Wilson said.
