Brimbank residents urged to stay well this winter

The Brimbank community is being asked to stay well this winter by getting a COVID-19 booster, and taking action to reduce the spread of the virus.

The number of COVID-19 infections is rising in the City of Brimbank, as it is across Victoria.

Brimbank's older residents are particularly vulnerable, with both COVID-19 and the flu circulating in the community.

Health professionals want people to stay up to date with all recommended vaccination doses to reduce the chance of becoming seriously ill.

Everyone over the age of 5 is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination.

  • People aged 16-20 should have 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
  • People aged 30-49 are eligible for 4 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
  • People aged over 50 are encouraged to have 4 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Children aged 5-11 years can also be vaccinated.

Ways to stay well this winter include:

  • Being up to date with your vaccinations, with at least two shots done and a third or fourth lined up if eligible.
  • Wearing a mask in crowded areas or when indoors with other people
  • Testing if you have any COVID-19 symptoms like a cough or runny nose
  • Staying home if you're unwell
