Busting myths around women in non-traditional trades

The realities of being a female tradie is the topic of a forum being held in Townsville this week.

"Girls can trade Up" is an initiative of Mas National (part of the IntoWork Australia Group) and is aimed at women of all ages and backgrounds – from high school students to those looking for a mid-career change.

"With female representation in core trades sitting at around 2-3% a lot of women may not have had the chance to meet and talk to someone who is actually working in a non-traditional trade. This forum is an opportunity to hear first hand what it's like being a tradie, and discuss it as a career option" said program facilitator Cathy Lockyer.
