Byford Health Hub Construction Tender Opens

  • Major construction tender signals the start of one of Western Australia's most progressive health projects
  • The $42.2 million Byford Health Hub scheduled to open in 2027 and provide integrated health and social care to residents in the rapidly growing Serpentine-Jarrahdale region
  • Earthworks completed already on the site at Bushman Glade near new train station and shopping centre

Residents in the rapidly growing Serpentine-Jarrahdale region are one step closer to having a progressive, integrated health hub on their doorstep, providing health care services close to where they work, play and live.

The tender for construction of the $42.2 million landmark Byford Health Hub has been issued to five companies who were successfully shortlisted following an expression of interest.

Tenders close on 28 August 2025.

Located in the heart of the Byford town centre, 40 kilometres south-east of the Perth CBD - the health hub will encompass about 3,000 square metres of floor space.

In a first for Western Australia, the Byford Health Hub will provide a single-entry point for local residents to access a range of primary care, community, social and specialist health services in one convenient location.

These include a mix of services operated by private providers, not-for-profit groups and WA Health, including pathology and child health.

Patients will access a range of WA Health Outpatient Services which they would normally need to travel to one of WA's main hospitals to access.

These range from paediatrics to maternity to physiotherapy, minor injury and minor illness, rheumatology, endocrinology and advice on diabetes, diet and healthy weight.

Telehealth appointments will also be available.

Anticipated community services may range from financial counselling to aged care and disability support, alcohol and other drug services, parenting support, and family and domestic violence support.

The East Metropolitan Health Service is co-ordinating the planning, design, development and delivery of the project in conjunction with the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and others, with advice from Aboriginal and community stakeholders.

Early works completed so far include construction of the pads for the future health hub, access roads and car parks, and installation of fencing and signage.

The Byford Health Hub is on track to be completed in 2027.

As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

"The release of this tender marks a significant step forward for a project that will give local residents access to a range of health professionals in one convenient location.

"Byford Health Hub is an important infrastructure project for the local community, allowing people to remain close to family and friends while accessing preventative health and during their recovery from illness or injury.

"We continue to rollout our ambitious $3.2 billion health infrastructure program, improving and expanding care across the State."

As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

"Through projects like the Byford Health Hub, we are delivering a new era of health.

"There is an ever-increasing demand for this type of service and the Cook Labor Government is committed to providing health care that focuses on building healthy communities and preventing serious illness and disease.

"The project team has spent a lot of time talking to the community and clinicians to establish what the new health hub should look like to ensure the best possible health service for young and old."

As stated by Darling Range MLA Hugh Jones:

"It's exciting to see this much-needed piece of health infrastructure reach a new milestone in its development.

"Byford is at the centre of one of the fastest-growing areas in Australia, and it's great to see the State Government continuing to support its growth with important infrastructure projects like the Byford Health Hub.

"With the Byford Train Station opening in October, and early works started on the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade, locals in Darling Range can look forward to a bright and connected future."
