Camden, meet your new Mayor

Macarthur Anglican School student Lachlan Reid took the reins of Camden Council recently after being named Mayor for a Day.

The annual public speaking competition saw 17 local Year Six students compete for the title of Mayor. Ava Gorgens from Currans Hill Public School was named Deputy Mayor in the online competition.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli said she appreciated hearing young people speak about their future vision for Camden.

"Local young people are the future of our beautiful area and it was fantastic to hear their thoughts during the competition," Cr Fedeli said.

"Our Mayor for a Day competition continues to prove to me that our future is safe in the hands of our local young people."

The speakers were assessed by Cr Fedeli, on their presentation, knowledge of Local Government, the Camden area and their ideas to improve the area.

The competition was part of Council's Local Government Week celebrations.
