Canada Funds Projects to Enhance Nutrition in Africa and Asia

Global Affairs Canada

Canada has announced $84.6 million in funding for nutrition-specific programming to support the implementation of four new projects by Canadian partners. These projects will contribute to Canada's 10-year Global Health and Rights commitment, including the priority focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and to Canada's 2020 commitment to increase funding for gender-informed nutrition interventions.

Action Against Hunger Canada

$10,000,000 for fiscal year 2022-2023 to fiscal year 2027-2028

This project will improve nutrition and nutrition-related rights, and gender equality for the poorest and most vulnerable women, adolescent girls and children in Tanzania and Uganda.

$14,633,868 for fiscal year 2023-2024 to fiscal year 2028-2029

This project will improve nutrition for the poorest and most marginalized, especially pregnant and lactating women, and their children in vulnerable areas of Ghana and Ethiopia.

Increase Gains in Nutrition by Integration Education Evaluation Empowerment (IGNIT3)

SickKids Centre for Global Child Health

$19,040,877 for fiscal year 2023-2024 to fiscal year 2028-2029

This project will deliver integrated nutrition, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programming to build institutional capacity across the continuum of care, and improve nutrition and hygiene within vulnerable communities in Ghana, Malawi and Pakistan.

Realizing Gender Equality, Attitudinal Change & Transformative Systems in Nutrition (REACTS-IN)

World Vision Canada

$41,000,000 for fiscal year 2023-2024 to fiscal year 2030-2031

This project will improve nutrition, nutrition-related rights, and gender equality for the poorest women, adolescent girls, and children under 5 years of age in Bangladesh, Kenya, Somalia and Tanzania.
