Today, His Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) Harry DeWolf departed from its homeport of Halifax, N.S., for the 2023 iteration of the annual sovereignty Arctic deployment, Operation Nanook.
Through August and September 2023, HMCS Harry DeWolf will engage Northern communities through activities in regional hamlets, towns, and shipboard visits, and will provide armed presence patrols along the Northwest Passage. At various times, HMCS Harry DeWolf will work with the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard, the Royal Danish Navy, the French Navy, the Canadian Coast Guard, and other partners, the Canadian ship will lead multinational maritime exercises and participate in valuable co-operative exercises as well.
The deployment of HMCS Harry DeWolf on Operation Nanook demonstrates Canada's commitment to protecting the Arctic and maintaining strong, collaborative, maritime capabilities with both international and national partners.
