Caravan fire

Geraldton Detectives are investigating a caravan fire that occurred in Glenfield (Geraldton) the early hours of Sunday 12 July 2020. Around 2.50am, the caravan situated on private property on the North West Coastal Highway and used for storage was found ablaze.

A propane gas bottle in the caravan exploded and the fire destroyed the caravan. Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Investigators would like to speak to the driver of a vehicle with hazard lights flashing that was parked on the south bound verge of North West Coastal Highway near the property between midnight and 2.50am. It is believed the driver might have information that can assist detectives.

Geraldton Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area prior to the fire and urge anyone with dash-cam vision of the area on North West Coastal Highway between midnight and 3am, to come forward.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
