Casey North Community Hub Construction Advances

Casey North Community Information & Support Service (CISS) will soon have a new home in Narre Warren.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and Casuarina Ward Councillor Kim Ross visited the Webb Street site on Wednesday 15 April, where renewal works to the existing front building and portable are well underway. The portable, which is an old kindergarten building, was relocated earlier this year from Doveton Pool in the Park.

Casey North CISS is a not-for-profit service offering accessible information, referral support, and essential assistance to individuals and families. With committed staff and volunteers, Casey North CISS provide programs that promote wellbeing, resilience, advocacy and care.

"Casey North Community Information & Support Service plays a vital role in supporting people in our community who are doing it tough," Cr Koomen said.

"Through the dedication of their staff and volunteers, they provide practical help, trusted advice and a welcoming place for residents seeking support. Council is proud to help provide a space where this important work can continue to grow and reach even more people who need it."

Cr Ross said, "As demand for food relief and housing support continues to grow, a permanent and more accessible location will make it easier for residents to access services. It will also strengthen Casey North Community Information & Support Service's capacity to deliver vital assistance to our most vulnerable residents."

As part of the renewal works, plastering in the portable has been completed and new access ramps installed. Painting has commenced and external civil works are underway, including underground plumbing and drainage. Other works to be completed include perimeter fencing; canopy around the new ramp; flooring (tiles and carpet); internal windows; and the installation of new toilet amenities and security systems.

The works, which are funded through Council's Capital Works Program, are expected to be completed by mid-June.
