The Center for Aerosol Science and Technology, or CAST, had a strong presence at the 43rd annual meeting of the American Association for Aerosol Research in Buffalo, New York. The conference provided an opportunity to showcase the latest research in aerosol science and technology and to connect with colleagues across the field.
Four faculty members, three postdoctoral researchers and six Ph.D. students participated, giving 18 presentations. Two members served as session chairs. CAST members presented a wide range of aerosol-related topics, including collecting aerosols to analyze RNA/DNA for ecosystem biodiversity, studying Saharan dust particles and their climate impact, developing new instruments to capture viral aerosols, synthesizing graphene oxide via aerosol methods for drug delivery, and examining co-exposure to mold aerosols and cleaning products. Students and postdocs submitted abstracts and were chosen to present their research from a pool of submissions.

"This year, we had record-high attendance at the Early Career Event. It's been great to be part of event planning and to witness the growth of the mentoring program and expansion of the student chapters," said Yang Wang, assistant professor and co-chair of the Early-Career Committee. He also concluded his three-year service on the AAAR Early Career Committee this year.
Next year, the 44th AAAR Annual Conference will be held in Pasadena, California. CAST researchers look forward to participating again and sharing their latest work.
