CCTV images released after robbery at Bankstown

Detectives have released CCTV images and are appealing for public assistance after a woman was robbed in Bankstown last week.

Shortly before 8.30am on Thursday 17 February 2022, a woman was walking to her car, which was parked at the Bankstown Centro carpark.

A man – believed to be armed with a knife – followed the woman to her car and demanded her handbag.

The woman – aged 40 – ran away and the man caught up to her, before threatening her, and snatching her handbag and fleeing the scene.

He was last seen running along Wattle Street, Bankstown.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The woman was not physically injured during the incident.

As investigations continue, detectives have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with ongoing inquiries.

The man depicted in the CCTV image is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with a dark beard and a long blonde/brown plaited ponytail. He walks with a distinct limp to his left leg.

He was wearing a two-toned blue Nike jacket with light blue on the bottom and dark blue sleeves, a high viz yellow shirt underneath, dark blue three striped Adidas track pants, stone coloured work boots, wearing a 'Gant' brand cap and a black face mask.

Anyone who may be able to assist investigators or has dashcam footage on North Terrace Bankstown and Stacey x Wattle Street Bankstown, between the hours of 7am and 8.45am is urged to contact Bankstown Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
