Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

The Department ofTourism, Sport and Culture is reminding Territorians and visitors to Check ifa Park is Open before travelling to our national parks, to avoiddisappointment. While many Territory Parks remain open year-round, others aresubject to seasonal closures.

Berry Springs NaturePark closes tomorrow, 17 October 2019. It closes towards the end of the DrySeason each year as water levels drop and bacteria levels rise.

To find out whethera Park is open, visit https://nt.gov.au/leisure/parks-reserves or check out theParks and Wildlife Facebook page.

As stated by NT Parks and Wildlife A/ChiefDistrict Ranger Darwin Urban Parks, Louise Kean:

Our Parks are some of the most spectacular in Australia,if not the world, but so is our weather, which means some Parks are subject toseasonal closures.

Although BerrySprings closes tomorrow, nearby Litchfield National Park remains openthroughout the year, with swimming available at beautiful spots such as WangiFalls and Florence Falls. The Territory Wildlife Park also remains open and furtherafield Edith Falls is open for swimming and walking.

We remind all Park visitors to take notice of Parkclosures and to Be Crocwise. Crocodiles live in waterways across the Top End,so heed warning signs about where you can and cant swim, and always camp atleast 50 metres from the waters edge.
