Clifton, Nobby, Pittsworth water restrictions reduced to Low level

Clifton, Nobby and Pittsworth residents will move to Low level water restrictions, effective immediately.

Toowoomba Regional Council Water and Waste Committee chair Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said residents in the towns would have an allocation of 200 litres per person per day (Low level).

"The move brings these residents in line with the majority of our Region's residents, who are on the Low level restrictions," Cr Vonhoff said.

"Pittsworth and Nobby residents were previously under Medium level restrictions (175 litres/person/day), while Clifton is shifting from High level restrictions (150 litres/person/day).

"Council earlier this year commissioned a reverse osmosis treatment plant at Clifton to improve the treatment of the town's alluvial bores. This is in addition to the water that can be supplied via a new Great Artesian Basin bore.

"Many residents will have full water tanks. Recent rain and forecasts for a wet spring and summer should result in lower-than-average consumption in the coming months."

Cr Vonhoff said Cambooya and Vale View would remain on High level water restrictions.

"Council is investigating how to supplement the water supplies for Cambooya and Vale View," Cr Vonhoff said.

"Recent rain has not sufficiently replenished the bores in these areas.

"Council has plans for a pipeline connection to Vale View from the Toowoomba Bulk Supply network in forward capital works budget considerations.

"Council appreciates residents' commitment to watching water use."
