At the October Council meeting, community members were appointed following advertising, to the re-established Roads Advisory Committee.

Council appointed the following people representing four geographic quadrants across the local government area, for a two-year term ending June 2028.

The appointed community members include:

  • Quadrant 1: Nick (Ned) Nagle (one position remaining vacant and requiring filling);
  • Quadrant 2: Patrick Dore and Paul Routley;
  • Quadrant 3: Robert Purtle and Craig Marshall; and
  • Quadrant 4: Robert Pearce and Pat Drum.

The committee will also include delegated Councillors and Senior engineering staff, with the Mayor and General Manager serving as ex-officio members.

Mayor Cr Cheryl Cook said local knowledge and community input are vital to maintaining and improving the Council's extensive local road network.

"Our road assets cover a vast geographic footprint connecting our towns, agricultural producers and rural communities," Mayor Cook said.

"By appointing experienced community representatives from across all four quadrants of our region, Council is ensuring that local insights directly assist Council in operational and strategic decision making."

The Committee will provide advice on Road Hierarchy Networks Classifications, risk-based maintenance management plans, four-year road renewal programs and broader strategic asset management for local and regional roads and bridges.

"We are immensely grateful to these residents for volunteering their time and expertise to help guide our road maintenance strategies, services levels and future capital works programs," Mayor Cook said.

Residents interested in representing Quadrant 1 on the committee are encouraged to contact Council's Engineering Services Department at (02) 6033 8999.
