Orange City Council is looking for volunteers to join in as its network of community committees gets off the ground again following the election of the new council.
Orange City Council has 23 community committees that either offer advice, become a sounding-board or lobby about key topics.
The committee membership lasts for the term of the elected Council.
Anyone interested in being on a community committee can complete an Expression of Interest form on this page of the Council site.
The EIO process closes 5pm 11 March.
Orange Mayor Jason Hamling said the Council was asking residents to think about putting up their hand to join one of the community committees.
"We have a network of community committees because we want to tap into and listen to the expertise and interests of the people who live in the community of Orange," Cr Jason Hamling said.
There is a wide range of committees from a special interest in companion animals through to street trees, Australia Day, sport and recreation, economic development and cultural heritage.
"Some committees will help Council make up its mind about environmental debates. Other committees help the Council to understand what's important to the residents of villages, like Spring
Hill or Lucknow," Cr Hamling said. "The community committees meet routinely through the year and the reports from their meetings are brought to Council meetings for discussion and decisions."
"It's always good to have fresh perspectives, so I'm hoping people who've never been on a community committee will think about it, as well as those who have served in this way before."
The latest Council meeting also decided which councillors would serve as members of the committees:
