Council is now in pre-election period

Local Government Elections will be held on Saturday 24 October 2020. The elections will be held by postal ballot, conducted on behalf of Council by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).

Council is now in a Caretaker Period (pre-election period) until 6pm on Election Day (Saturday 24 October).

Mitchell Shire Council's Election Period Policy applies during this time. This policy provides guidance to Councillors, staff and candidates in the lead up to, and during the period for the 2020 elections.

During this time, we'll conduct our business as per our Election Period Policy and the State Government's caretaker legislation. This prevents Council resources from being used in a way that could unfairly influence the outcome of the election, either deliberately or unintentionally.
