Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald is encouraging local residents, community groups and business owners to register for the NSW Government's upcoming Community Cabinet at The Pavilion.

NSW Premier Chris Minns and his Cabinet Ministers will engage directly with local residents at a Q&A Community Forum at The Pavilion on Tuesday, 19 May.

This is the opening Community Cabinet for 2026 and Kiama has been chosen to host this event for the first time since 2013.

Residents, business owners, organisations, and stakeholders from Kiama and surrounds are encouraged to attend and provide insights into life in their community.

"This is a welcome opportunity for our community to discuss key priorities for the State with the Premier and the Cabinet Ministers," Mayor McDonald said.

"If you have ideas on how the NSW Government can help support our region, register to attend so your voice can be heard."

Mayor McDonald, Deputy Mayor Matters along with Councillors Stuart Larkins, Melinda Lawton and Yasmin Tatrai and CEO Jane Stroud, are set to meet with NSW Planning Minister Paul Scully, NSW Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig and Minister for Water Rose Jackson during Cabinet's visit to Kiama.

Since Council released its State Government Advocacy Plan last August, Mayor McDonald said they have held regular discussions with Cabinet Ministers.

"We've had ongoing meetings with Cabinet Ministers about what needs to be done to support our area," he said.

"We look forward to taking this opportunity to speak with them on key issues such as Council's financial sustainability and the Performance Improvement Order, planning and housing, our Employment Lands Strategy and the Bombo Water Treatment Plant."

Member for Kiama Katelin McInerney said the forum was a chance for locals to let the NSW Government know what's important to them.

"I am proud to be part of a team that recognises the importance of being accessible to regional constituents and that brings our decision makers out to communities to genuinely consult and hear firsthand what our priorities are, and what further investment will need in the future," she said.

Registration is free and can be done by phoning 02 9228 5188 or visiting https://www.nsw.gov.au/nsw-government/engage-us/community-cabinet by Friday 15 May.
