Covid Update: Quarantine & Testing Directions WA & SA

Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet

The Chief Health Officer has declared testing and quarantine directions for anyone who has been in a COVID-19 public exposure site in Western Australia or South Australia.

Any person who has been to a Western Australia public exposure site, and arrives in the Northern Territory after 5pm on 28 August 2021 must follow the directions specified with the location visited until directed otherwise. These are listed on the WA Department of Health Website.

Quarantine and testing directions are already in place for South Australia and apply to any person who has arrived in the Northern Territory from 8 July 2021 and has been to a COVID-19 public exposure site during the public exposure periods.

These quarantine and testing directions follow on from two truck drivers who travelled from New South Wales to Western Australia via Victoria and South Australia. The two men have tested positive for COVID-19 and are in hotel quarantine in WA. The men had limited contact with the community and while the situation is deemed to be low risk, these quarantine and testing directions provide an extra layer of protection for Territorians.

The Chief Health Officer will continue to review and assess the COVID-19 situation across Australia, and will take into account COVID-19 monitoring and data collection, the extent of community transmission and risks to the NT community.
