Detectives appeal for information after public place shooting - Merrylands West

Raptor Squad detectives are appealing for assistance as they continue to investigate a public place shooting in Sydney's west earlier this year.

About 1.40am on Wednesday (26 October 2022), officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were called to a home on Bristol Street, Merrylands West, following reports of shots fired.

On arrival, police located a number of bullet holes in the front of the home.

Two occupants were inside the home at the time; however, no one was injured.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Local police conducted initial inquiries, before the matter was referred to the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad under Strike Force Helio.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a pistol was located and seized on a nature strip on Doonside Road, Doonside, the following day (Thursday 27 October 2022).

The firearm was seized and will be subject to further forensic and ballistic examination.

Inquiries surrounding the circumstances of the shooting are continuing.
